The safe bets
A mousepad is one of the easiest gifts in gaming — everybody uses one, and an XL desk mat upgrades the whole desk. Small accessories like fresh skates, grip tape or a new cable are useful and hard to get wrong.
Worth asking first
For a mouse, find out their grip and whether they want wireless — or just check what they use now. For a keyboard, find out whether they use the numpad or F-keys; that tells you the layout. The size guide covers both.
